Master Gurdjieff-2

Here are some of the quotes of Master Gurdjieff (I came to know about this Master from the speeches of Master EK). May we contemplate & dip deep into the sayings of great Masters, and be bestowed with a better understanding...

(1) Conscious faith is freedom. Emotional faith is slavery. Mechanical faith is foolishness.

(2) Remember your "self" always and everywhere.

(3) By teaching others, you will learn yourself.

(4) Patience is the mother of will.

(5) The highest aim and sense of human life is the striving to attain the welfare of one's neighbor... and, that this is possible only exclusively by the conscious renunciation of one's own.

(6) Remember, you come here having already understood the necessity of struggling with yourself — only with yourself. Therefore, thank everyone who gives you the opportunity.

(7) The worse the conditions of life, the more productive the work, always, provided, you remember the work.

(8) One of the best means for arousing the wish to work on your "self" is to realize that you may die at any moment. But first you must learn how to keep it in mind.

(9) Here we (Masters?) can only direct and create conditions, but not help.

(10) People cannot perceive reality in their current states because they do not possess consciousness but rather live in a state of a hypnotic "waking sleep."

(11) Free will is the function of the Master within us. Our 'will' is supremacy of one desire over another.
